The Family Centre Childcare has been established to provide positive early childhood experiences where children are seen as competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential and can grow socially, emotionally and physically in a safe, nurturing family centered and family sensitive environment.

Parent Information

Here's some of our information that may find helpful.

At the Family Centre we utilize the professional resource, “How Does Learning Happen?”, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years from the Ministry of Education to guide our curriculum along with inspiration from Reggio Emilia. Our approach to curriculum is emergent, play based and focuses on the child’s lead.

We believe children are competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential.

Daily contact with parents and staff is supplemented with Fastoche, an online form of communication, parent teacher interviews, and telephone conversations, notes home describing items of interest to parents, newsletters and open house events. Parents are invited to visit The Family Centre at their convenience. We ask that you book a scheduled time to speak to the classroom teacher if there is a concern about your child.

Individual interviews, group meetings, workshops and parent meetings will be held periodically throughout the year. You are encouraged to participate in the daily routine and visit your child throughout the day.
